A summary of my week.


Busy. This is what my life is right now. But, it has been a good busy. For one, work is going well so far. I’ve got all my classes up and running now, and it’s nice to feel like I’m organized. This is the big plus of staying at the same school for more than one year! My birthday was this past weekend, and it was spent camping near the McCloud river with Shane, my brothers Duncan and Bill, and some great friends.

On the day, my brothers, Shane and I went for a hike in Jasper National Park. Oh wait, I have to back up a second. Did I mention that I was sick? Yep, HUGE head cold, it was not pleasant to say the least. I actually woke up with boogers crusted around my nose Saturday morning! Ok, that was probably a little TMI, and I guess I could delete it, buuuuuut, I’m not going to 🙂

Anyhow, hiking when you are sick is not the best idea I’ve ever had, but I am so glad that I went. At the start, I thought I was going to die, and felt like I was holding the group up, but it turns out that we did quite well. The hike was supposed to take 4 hours as per the guide, but we did it in 3 hours and 20 minutes! That included stopping to take pictures and having something to eat. Yeah, we rule 🙂

Like I said, I am so glad I went, and instead of describing it, I’ll show you what I mean instead.

 If you have never been to the Canadian Rockies, I HIGHLY recommend it. It’s beauty is really unparalleled, and the pictures simply do not do the place justice.

Meanwhile… P90X. Soooooo… last week was a bit of a false start for us. We did the first day, and then life got in the way. The good news is that I ran a few times last week, and, of course, the hiking that I did on my birthday made for an active week. This week, we’re back on track. In fact, I just finished doing Plyo X with Shane. I really love working out with Shane, it makes the whole process much more enjoyable. It was also a little nostalgic as the kitties joined us, just like they used to last summer. I tried to get my workout partner Dewey to take a picture with me. She was not happy. Below are the hilarious results.

Anyhow, I ended my long day a sweaty mess and now I’m blogging about it. I feel fantastic!

Ok, I really hope I get up and running with cooking again. I got a sweeeeet set of kitchen knives from Shane for my birthday, and I’m itching to use them. If only I was more motivated to cook in the summer….. Sigh.

If that’s my biggest problem right now, I’m doing pretty well, aren’t I? Talk to y’all soon, and can’t wait to catch up on your blogs!

  1. Those are awesome! I have knife envy! Make sure you don't sharpen them every time you use them, as with your old set… just hone the edge with a steel to keep it sharp, and sharpen every couple months or so. Billy will show you how.


  2. Started P90X myself. My body is killing me! I this is in part due to me only eating 1800-2000 calories per day…moderately active BMR for me supposedly is around 2700 cal/day so I need to get a couple hundred higher to not totally bonk during my workouts. I think I'll add another protein and another dairy into the mix, and possibly another fruit. Trying to stay away from carbs besides the ones I need to eat for the diet. How closely are you following the diet? I'm right in that bad mother.


  3. Chris, I'm not following the diet that closely. I'm sticking to around 1500-1600 calories a day, and I'm doing ok so far. I started taking this new shake. I'm reserving judgement for now, but so far, I feel far more energetic than I normally do, and I'm eating less. The only thing that's really different is the shake. Will update when I've been taking it for more than 3 days 🙂
